Community Foundation Celebrates Volunteers, Report Shows Volunteerism Adapted
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA) is celebrating National Volunteer Week, held April 17-23, and Global Volunteer Month. CFNEIA is proud to recognize its more than 350 volunteers, serving 23 affiliate community foundations in a 20-county region. These volunteers exemplify the invaluable impact volunteers have on nonprofits and communities and demonstrate the desire to make a difference even during a global pandemic.

Bill and Judy Travis were married in Dallas Center, Iowa at the Dallas Center Methodist Church on April 12, 1952. The couple owned and operated Travis Hardware/Texaco Gas Station from 1963 - 1969 and then later relocated to Vinton to open Travis True Value Hardware from 1969 - 2005. They have three children: Pam Travis Primmer (Rick), Vinton; Tom Travis - deceased (Connie), Vinton; and Susan Travis, Waukee. Free College Financing Information Is Available

Member of the Month - Charlee JohnsonAs a Senior, Charlee has attended many activities in her time in FFA, including National Convention, Spaghetti Dinner, and helping with Trash Barrels. This year, she has increased her involvement and as a result, will be receiving her Iowa Degree this Spring at State Convention. Her SAE project has her working with pigs and her horse. The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa’s 2022 scholarship application deadline is 8:00 p.m. on March 9, 2022. The online application can be found on the Community Foundation’s website at www.cfneia.org/scholarships. CFNEIA awarded $526,960 in scholarships to high school, college, and adult students in 2021. A total of 271 scholarships were awarded to students pursuing higher education opportunities and the average amount awarded was $1,976.
Benton County Community Foundation’s Grant Application Deadline is March 15
The deadline to submit grant applications to the Benton County Community Foundation’s 2022 grant cycle is 5:00 p.m. on March 15. The online grant application can be found on the Community Foundation’s website at www.bentonccf.org. Grants are awarded to projects within the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service.
